This individual will partner with the business analytics team to ensure Shire's system is robust and operationally effective for the Global Supply chain. They will work closely with other Shire departments to lead functional expertise in materials management in support of the Global Supply Chain. This position is accountable for ensuring all material plans are kept up to date with business partners, systems and stakeholders. This individual will support the effort of creating and maintaining all analytical support globally. This will include the management of people who will play a role in supporting technology and analytical/process development. This associate director of planning will provide recommendations and suggestions in the management of Shire's Speciality $85 million global inventory investment. The investment includes over 150 bulk, WIP and finished good product items in over 30 countries. Additionally, the Associate Director of Planning has responsibility of a team of 5-7 direct reports. Planning Execution Create, implement and maintain robust processes to ensure product supply Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) through a standard recognized process. Support the introduction of New Products through the timely vetting & selection of Supply Chain (manufacturing) suppliers, including: An assessment of commercial methods & processes relative to product technical specifications An appreciation of factors influencing process times, batch sizes, EOQ's, delivery terms etc An understanding of inter-supplier transfer of materials, product, packaging, etc., and WIP holding arrangements Close interaction with the Global Director of Planning and DEA management, as and when required ensuring involvement is clear and precise. To create action plans on key Performance indicators (KPI) and metrics relative to the supply base Work closely with the Pharmaceutical Technology group following First Customer Ship (FCS) to ensure that all issues relating to ongoing supply are answered. Manage the integrated supply between contract manufacturers and customers Manage relationships with contract manufacturers to ensure adequate product supply to meet inventory strategies through business reviews Ensure proper communication of the production plan per contract to suppliers. Communicate contract manufacturing production plans to QA and work with them to ensure adequate supply of product. Facilitate the resolution of issues with contract manufacturers as needed. Review material such as supply chain trends, sales, forecast, on-time delivery, and develop appropriate inventory strategies to ensure smooth supply. Maintain accountability for New Product Introduction (NPI) including what-if analysis for inventory strategies going forward. Partner with product strategy leaders to ensure proper inventory strategies are in place and any risk or opportunities to product supply are communicated to the business Participate, challenge and recommend any changes to forecast through S&OP through planning team Provide input to the global quota management process to report information with one single approach to the organization Key player in the Globalization strategy of shire.
